The Delta Panthers will be playing at home against the Bayfield Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Delta's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while Bayfield has been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
Two weeks ago, Delta got themselves on the board against Salida, but Salida never followed suit. They claimed a resounding 48-0 win over the Spartans at home. The result was nothing new for Delta, who have now won five matches by 21 points or more so far this season.
Jovanny Romero had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 175 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Talan Hulet, who rushed for 83 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries.
Meanwhile, Bayfield was able to grind out a solid win over Salida on Friday, taking the game 27-20.
Among those leading the charge was Donovan Candelaria, who rushed for 90 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 40 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. Hunter Mars got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Their wins bumped Delta to 7-0 and Bayfield to 1-6.
Everything came up roses for Delta against Bayfield in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 48-6 win. Will Delta repeat their success, or does Bayfield have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
