The Hurricane Tigers lost against the Cedar Reds back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Hurricane fell 62-50 to Cedar.
Despite the loss, Hurricane saw an underclassman step up: Laynee Walker scored 16 points along with five assists. That's the first time this season that Walker scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Whitnie Esplin, who scored 12 points.
Hurricane's defeat dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Cedar, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hurricane's road trip will continue as they head out to face Dixie at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Dixie is ranked 47th, while Hurricane is ranked 49th). As for Cedar, they will head out on the road to challenge Desert Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
