Given Pershing County's advantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while the Longhorns are ranked 67th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Pershing County to victory were Aaliyah Allen and Raegan Burrows. Allen almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds, while Burrows dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 steals. Burrows is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Despite the loss, Battle Mountain still got an impressive performance from Jenna Chopp, who scored 12 points. Stevlana Martinez was another key contributor, scoring four points.
Battle Mountain struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Pershing County pulled down 23 offensive rebounds.
Pershing County's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-1. As for Battle Mountain, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-9.
