For the first time this season, Alta will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will head out on the road to face off against the Viewmont Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Viewmont took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Alta, who comes in off a win.
If Alta beats Viewmont with ten runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Hawks came out on top against Westlake by a score of 10-7 on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hawks.
Alta gave Tatum Johnson the start and clearly made the right call: he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.
On the hitting side, Alta let Kaden Goodsell and Crew Scheel run wild. Goodsell went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI, while Scheel went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was Scheel's first of the season. Another player making a difference was TJ Perry, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one double.
Alta lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since the start of last season.
Bountiful hit Viewmont with a five-run fifth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Vikings came up short against the Redhawks, falling 10-2. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Vikings couldn't push the score so high this time.
Seth Horsely was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits.
At the plate, Viewmont saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mays Miller, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Viewmont's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 2-8. As for Alta, their record now sits at 2-5.
Alta came out on top in a nail-biter against Viewmont when the teams last played back in March of 2025, sneaking past 9-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hawks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
