The Leflore County Tigers struggled with offensive rebounds on Tuesday (the Simmons Blue Devils had eight more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Leflore County had to suffer through a rough 53-26 loss at the hands of Simmons. Leflore County was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-11.
Olivia Hilton was Leflore County's leading scorer, having posted eight points.
Jordan Dixon held things down on the boards with eight rebounds.
Leading Simmons to victory were Vontasia Rush and Akiah Prince. Rush scored 16 points along with six rebounds and six steals, while Prince scored 23 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Prince has scored at least 25% of Simmons' points. Another player making a difference was Moesha Hoskins, who scored four points along with four steals.
Leflore County's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-8. As for Simmons, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-2.
Leflore County will head out on the road to face off against Amanda Elzy at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Simmons will be home for the holidays to greet Riverside at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
