On Saturday, Gerstell Academy ended up a good deal behind the Engineers and lost 55-40. Gerstell Academy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Gerstell Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Miley Alguire, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Eniyah Stinnette, who scored four points along with 14 rebounds and five blocks.
Leading Poly to victory were C. Mills and Brianna Pope. Mills scored nine points along with three steals, while Pope dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Pope has scored all season. A. Overton was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Gerstell Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Poly, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 14-0.
Gerstell Academy is on the road again on Wednesday and plays the at 5:30 p.m. on January 31st. Maryvale Prep will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings (they are ranked 142nd, while the are ranked 44th). As for Poly, they will be playing at home against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. McDonogh is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.
