Richfield has enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Manti Templars at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Richfield had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They came out on top against Canyon View by a score of 35-24. 35 seems to be a good number for Richfield as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Reggie Hafen continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 271 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.8 yards per attempt. Gage Yardley did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 95 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Manti came tearing into Saturday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 35-21 win over Morgan.
It was another big night for Maison Starkweather, who threw for 299 yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in a rushing score. Starkweather has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Stone Mortensen, who picked up 61 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was Manti's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Mac Olsen and Lincoln Alder who racked up five sacks between them.
Richfield has yet to lose a match at home this season, leaving them with a 12-0 record. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 40.1 points per game. As for Manti, their win bumped their record up to 10-2.
Keep an eye on the end zone in Saturday's game as Richfield and Manti haven't had much trouble getting there this season. Richfield commands a daunting offense this season, having averaged 5 touchdowns per game. However, it's not like Manti struggles in that department as they've been even better at 5.5 per game. With these two high-octane teams facing off on Saturday, fans should be in for an exciting offensive matchup. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
