On Thursday, the Burrillville Broncos faced the Lincoln School Lynx in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Burrillville took a 49-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lincoln School. Burrillville has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Lincoln School found their leader in underclassman Sarah Berube, who scored 22 points along with four steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Berube has scored at least a third of Lincoln School's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Reign Whiteing, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and four blocks.
Burrillville's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Lincoln School, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.
Burrillville will head out on the road to challenge Exeter-West Greenwich at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Rhode Island (Exeter-West Greenwich is ranked sixth, while Burrillville is ranked 15th). As for Lincoln School, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against North Providence at 4:30 p.m. on January 26th.
