While it was all tied up 20-20 at halftime, the North Lincoln Knights were not quite the Foard Tigers's equal in the second half on Tuesday. The game between the pair wasn't particularly close, with North Lincoln falling 57-39. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for them in their matchups with Foard: they've now lost five in a row.
Ashlyn Black and Madi Black certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Black scored eight points along with seven rebounds and two steals, while Black scored seven points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. That's the first time this season that Black pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Addison Grice, who scored four points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Foard got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Davoney Dellinger out in front who scored 23 points along with two steals. Dellinger is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Jessica Bailey was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 15 rebounds.
North Lincoln has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-5 record this season. As for Foard, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-4.
North Lincoln will head out on the road to take on West Iredell at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. West Iredell will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 557th, while North Lincoln is ranked 147th). As for Foard, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Hickory at 6:30 p.m.
