Westmoreland is 2-8 against Lancaster since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Eagles will be playing at home against the Red Devils at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Westmoreland barely beat Colonial Beach the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Drifters on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.
Brandon Pickeral was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Pickeral was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, Kaiden Fauntleroy was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Gage Jones, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Westmoreland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Colonial Beach only posted an OBP of .385.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times Lancaster and Northumberland have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Thursday. The victory was their first on the road, bumping their record up to 3-6. As for Lancaster, their win bumped their record up to 13-4.
