Veritas Christian Academy has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Liberty Preparatory Christian Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Veritas Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 46 on Tuesday.
Veritas Christian Academy suffered their biggest loss since December 4, 2023 on Tuesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 68-46 walloping at the hands of United Faith Christian Academy.
Despite the loss, Veritas Christian Academy had strong showings from Shea Nichols, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds, and Sloan Nichols, who scored nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Miller, who scored four points along with seven assists and two steals.
Meanwhile, Liberty Preparatory Christian was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 38-33 to Lee Park Prep.
Liberty Preparatory Christian's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jenna Hessels, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two blocks, and Leia Garrett who scored six points along with 13 rebounds and seven blocks. Garrett hasn't dropped below two blocks for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Madelyn Clinkenbeard, who scored six points.
Veritas Christian Academy's defeat ended a 14-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-6. Liberty Preparatory Christian's record is now 12-4.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Veritas Christian Academy have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 35.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Liberty Preparatory Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 37.2 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Veritas Christian Academy came up short against Liberty Preparatory Christian when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 57-51. Can Veritas Christian Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
