Norwalk and Sandusky are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Norwalk Truckers will head out on the road to face off against the Sandusky Blue Streaks at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Norwalk sitting on four straight victories and Sandusky on three.
Even though Norwalk has not done well against Huron recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Norwalk skirted past Huron 39-36. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Norwalk has posted since December 1, 2023.
Meanwhile, even though Columbian scored an imposing 63 points on Saturday, Sandusky still came out on top. Sandusky narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Columbian 66-63. Given Sandusky's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 24th, while Columbian is ranked 191st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Sandusky's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jason Henlon, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds. Henlon hasn't dropped below 15points for five straight games. Kobe Brown was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with seven rebounds.
Norwalk has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for Sandusky, their victory bumped their record up to 9-1.
Norwalk ended up a good deal behind Sandusky in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, losing 78-63. Can Norwalk avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
