2A-1 Region III District 10 recap September 10, 2013
Kevin Shorter of Newton ran for the longest rushing play in 2A-1 Region III District 10 this season against Liberty last week. Shorter scampered for 82 yards on the play and finished with 221 on the day as his team beat the Panthers.
Hardin scaled the state rankings by moving to 808 from 908 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Hornets climbed the ranks as a result of beating Tarkington 32-18.
Anahuac's dynamic duo of Dion Ponce and Noah Moulton proved tough for Hamshire-Fannett to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Ponce threw for 118 yards and Moulton had 49 yards receiving. Xayian Lewis helped Anahuac's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 28 yards.
The Panthers' dynamic duo of Ponce and Moulton proved to be unstoppable against the Longhorns, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Shorter provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Newton bested Liberty.
Ponce put up the best numbers through the air as Anahuac lost to Hamshire-Fannett.
Shorter was a force in the backfield as W.T. Johnston's team beat the Panthers.
Shorter was the best running back in the league this week. Teammate Brandon Johnson added to the ground attack by rushing for 111 yards.
Moulton was the best wideout in 2A-1 Region III District 10 this week as Marty Murr's team lost to Kane Harris' team.
The Panthers fell to the Longhorns 42-20 last week, the largest margin of any game. Ponce was a bright spot for Anahuac, as he ran for 68 yards in the loss.
