Princeville is 9-1 against Galva since February of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Princeville Princes will head out on the road to challenge the Galva Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Princeville has 11 straight wins, Galva has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Princeville put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Friday. They blew past Monmouth United 65-41. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Princeville has posted since December 14, 2023.
Galva suffered their biggest defeat since November 24, 2023 on Friday. They were the victim of a tough 67-44 defeat at the hands of Annawan. While losing is never fun, Galva can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 651st, while Annawan is ranked 262nd).
Despite the loss, Galva saw an underclassman step up: JP Sloan scored 16 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sloan has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Blake Stahl, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Princeville pushed their record up to 16-2 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.8 points per game. As for Galva, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Princeville against Galva when the teams last played back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 66-15 victory. With Princeville ahead 35-4 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
