6A Region 4 Top Player Performances of the Week
Congratulations to this week's top players! We're covering the best performances from Friday's football action (using all statistics entered as of the time of writing). Enjoy!
Blake Owen Turns in Season-Best Effort
Cookeville was led to victory by Blake Owen, who turned in his biggest game of the season on Friday. Owen rushed for 232 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.0 yards per carry, and also threw for 167 yards and a touchdown on only ten passes, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.
Owen must have Gallatin's number; he was a force to be reckoned with the last time he faced them too. Owen rushed for 126 yards, and also threw for 91 yards and two touchdowns the last time he and the Green Wave duked it out back in September of 2023.

Stroup Came Up Big in Gallatin's 45-29 Defeat
Jackson Stroup posted a new career-high in rushing yards on Friday. He threw for 353 yards and three touchdowns while completing 78.4% of his passes, and also rushed for 42 yards.
Stroup and Gallatin will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Wilson Central at 7:00 p.m. on October 18th. The Green Wave got just the result they wanted when they last faced the Wildcats, probably because Stroup had a solid game then too: he threw for 152 yards and a touchdown, and also punched in a rushing score. Can he match (or beat) that performance?
