There's no place like home for the Providence Grove Patriots, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Tuesday. They came out on top against Uwharrie Charter by a score of 60-53 on Friday. With that victory, Providence Grove brought their scoring average up to 50.8 points per game.
Providence Grove was led to victory by JADA NIXON and BROOKE INGRAM. NIXON scored 18 points along with five rebounds and four steals, while INGRAM scored 25 points along with five rebounds. The contest was NIXON's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was LAUREL BERNHARDT, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Despite the loss, Uwharrie Charter still got an impressive performance from Chloe Painter, who scored 22 points along with six assists and three steals. That's the first time this season that Painter scored 15 or more points. Nevaeh Staples was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Uwharrie Charter struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Providence Grove pulled down 16 offensive rebounds.
Providence Grove's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points per game. As for Uwharrie Charter, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season.
