Southern Christian hasn't had much luck against Wiregrass recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Southern Christian Patriots are taking a road trip to take on the Wiregrass Kings at 7:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Southern Christian is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Evangel Christian on Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Southern Christian was dealt a 69-37 loss at the hands of Evangel Christian. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 345th, while the Lightning are ranked 84th).

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Gabriel Decker, who posted seven points and four steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Johnson, who went 6 for 15 en route to 14 points and seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Wiregrass came up short against East Central HomeSchool on Saturday and fell 69-57.
Southern Christian will have to keep a close watch on Brayden Treadaway and Graysen Ellison, a pair of players who had a big impact on Wiregrass' prior game. Treadaway earned 17 points and three steals, while Ellison went 5 of 9 on his way to 14 points. What's more, Ellison also racked up three assists, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. Tucker Duren was another key player, putting up nine points.
Wiregrass has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 15 of their last 16 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-17 record this season. As for Southern Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-8.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Southern Christian has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 32.4 boards per game. However, it's not like Wiregrass struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.1 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Southern Christian was taken down by Wiregrass 75-37 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Southern Christian was down 53-20.
