The South Williamsport Mountaineers will challenge the Wellsboro Hornets at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with South Williamsport sitting on four straight victories and Wellsboro on three.
On Thursday, South Williamsport was able to grind out a solid win over Midd-West, taking the game 5-1.

04/30/25 @ Wyalusing Valley | 7 |
04/28/25 @ Muncy | 1 |
04/23/25 vs Shikellamy | 1 |
04/22/25 @ Towanda | 4 |

The team relied heavily on Tadd Lusk, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one double, and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Torin Haug, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, while Wellsboro put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Towanda. The Hornets had just enough and edged out the Black Knights 1-0. The one-run effort marked the Hornets' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
Towanda's batters probably weren't too happy with Maxwell Mascho, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 11 Ks (he gave up a single walk).
On the hitting side, Wellsboro's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Griffin Morral, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI. That stolen base was Morral's first of the season.
South Williamsport's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-6. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Wellsboro, their win bumped their record up to 6-7.
South Williamsport took their victory against Wellsboro in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 15-3 score. Do the Mountaineers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hornets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
