Softball Recap: Skyline Takes a Loss

After flying high against Juanita last Wednesday, Skyline came back down to earth. The Spartans took a 13-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Snohomish Panthers on Friday. The Spartans haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Shea Staley and Nazli Chavez stepped up to the plate in a big way. Staley scored two runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4, while Chavez went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Staley has been hot recently, having also posted at least one home run the last three times she's played. Piper Swanson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Skyline suffered their first road loss, dropping their record down to 9-3. As for Snohomish, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-3.

Looking ahead, Skyline will challenge Redmond at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Snohomish, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Monroe at 4:00 p.m. on the 14th. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bearcats have averaged an impressive 8.8 runs per game this season.
