2A Northwest recap Oct. 23, 2012
Portland Christian extended the longest winning streak in 2A Northwest this week by beating Nestucca, 44-0. The win marks eighth in a row for the the Royals.
Portland Christian took down the Bobcats 44-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Steven Mumford threw for 118 yards and two touchdowns and ran for nine yards in the win.
Cal Szueber's team's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Curtis Farmer chipped in 77 yards. Nathan Mumford helped Portland Christian's passing attack out by catching three balls for 30 yards.
Farmer was the best wideout in the league this week as the Royals bested Nestucca. Farmer tallied one reception for 35 yards.
Portland Christian's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Royals feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Mumford has thrown for 1300 yards and 16 touchdowns this season, while Mumford has 32 catches for 545 yards. Farmer leads the league in rushing with 650 yards.
A big matchup in 2A Northwest this week will be when Colin Carr's team takes on Gaston. As it stands, the Bobcats are in second, while the Greyhounds are in third.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Knappa takes on Portland Christian. The Loggers have allowed 109 points this season, while the Royals have given up 60.
