The Onaga Buffaloes will head out on the road to face off against the Centralia Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Onaga will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.
Onaga's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. Everything went their way against Blue Valley as they made off with a 16-0 win. The Buffaloes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 games by eight runs or more this season.
Willow Hochstedler made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Abbie Ringel, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Marissa Sauvage, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Onaga kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in nine consecutive matchups.
Centralia couldn't beat Onaga on April 7th even though they stacked six runs on them in the seventh inning. The Panthers fell just short of the Buffaloes by a score of 9-8. The loss was the Panthers' first of the season.
Tava Gibbs was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Shayne Anderson, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Onaga pushed their record up to 15-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Centralia, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Onaga has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Centralia struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Onaga skirted past Centralia 9-8 in their previous meeting on April 7th. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Buffaloes since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
