The Golden Plains Bulldogs had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They enjoyed a cozy 57-43 victory over Triplains/Brewster on Friday. The win was just what Golden Plains needed coming off of a 67-34 defeat in their prior game.
Golden Plains found their leader in underclassman Dylan Wark, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Rath, who scored 13 points along with eight steals and five rebounds.
Nick Zerr and Carson Schmidt certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Zerr dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds, while Schmidt scored 14 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Zerr has scored all season. Koda Kvasnicka was another key contributor, scoring three points along with ten rebounds and three steals.
Golden Plains' win bumped their record up to 4-9. As for Triplains/Brewster, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11.
Golden Plains will look to defend their home court on Saturday against the Thunderhawks at 12:30 p.m. Wheatland-Grinnell is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Triplains/Brewster, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the on February 3rd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Kansas (Western Plains/Healy is ranked 340th, while the Titans are ranked 346th).
