South Nodaway/Jefferson will challenge DeKalb on the road at 7:00 PM on Friday. If the contest is anything like the 62-68 finish from the last time they met, the scorekeeper will be kept real busy.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 6-52, which was the final score in South Nodaway/Jefferson's tilt against Southwest/Hale/Tina-Avalon last Friday. South Nodaway/Jefferson's defeat came about despite a quality game from junior Dalton Luke, who rushed for 116 yards and 1 touchdown.
Meanwhile, DeKalb have had to suffer through a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past North Nodaway/West Nodaway 42-40. Having pegged this as anyone's game, the MaxPreps state rankings were right on the nose.
DeKalb's win lifted them to 2-4 while South Nodaway/Jefferson's loss dropped them down to 1-5. In their win, DeKalb relied heavily on junior Darrin McElfresh, who rushed for 161 yards and 3 touchdowns. South Nodaway/Jefferson will need to find a way to minimize his impact if they want to win.
