The Chillicothe Cavaliers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They took a 43-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Athens. While losing is never fun, Chillicothe can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 619th, while Athens is ranked 83rd).
Athens got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ella Chapman out in front who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Chapman is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Asa Holcombe was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds.
Chillicothe's loss was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Athens, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chillicothe will face off against Harvest Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Athens, they will head out on the road to challenge Meigs at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
