Even though the Bellaire Eagles have not done well against the Inland Lakes Bulldogs recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Bellaire came out on top against Inland Lakes by a score of 59-50. This was payback for Bellaire, who suffered a 65-40 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Inland Lakes lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Connor Wallace, who scored 14 points along with six assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wallace has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Sam Schoonmaker, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds.
Bellaire pushed their record up to 1-0 with that win, which was their third straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.0 points per game. As for Inland Lakes, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Bellaire will head out on the road to face off against St. Mary Cathedral at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Inland Lakes, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Forest Area at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Forest Area comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
