Basketball Recap: Hickory Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Hickory Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were dealt a 62-27 defeat at the hands of the Westminster Catawba Christian Indians. That's two games in a row now that the Knights have lost by exactly 35 points.

Cece Dechellis and Kara Whitford certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Dechellis posted two points and 16 rebounds, while Whitford had 11 points. The dominant performance gave Dechellis a new career-high in boards.

Even though they lost, Hickory Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Westminster Catawba Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Myana Fore, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and ten boards. Fore is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last three games she's played. Leah Ross was another key player, dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.

Hickory Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Westminster Catawba Christian, the win got them back to even at 4-4.

Hickory Christian Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, an 81-19 defeat against Maiden on the 19th. As for Westminster Catawba Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-32 loss against River Bluff on the 19th.
