The Bethel Christian Academy Trojans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their ninth straight defeat. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 47-27 walloping at the hands of New Bern Christian Academy. While losing is never fun, Bethel Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 572nd, while the are ranked 254th).
Leading New Bern Christian Academy to victory were Lily Davis and Alli Anderson. Davis scored nine points along with seven rebounds and seven steals, while Anderson dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Anderson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Faith Huffman, who scored nine points along with five steals.
Bethel Christian Academy has not been sharp recently as the team's lost 11 of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season. As for New Bern Christian Academy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 17-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bethel Christian Academy will take on the Knights at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. As for New Bern Christian Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Spartan at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th. Christ Covenant has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
