Basketball Recap: Landrum Skates Past Union County with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Landrum). They breezed past the Union County Yellowjackets to the tune of 85-28 on Monday. The Cardinals pushed the score to 72-24 by the end of the third, a deficit the Yellowjackets had no chance of recovering from.

Landrum was led to victory by Kylie Fortner and Delaney Caldwell. Fortner posted 31 points along with five assists and four steals, while Caldwell dropped a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds. That's the most assists Fortner has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Sullivan Price, who put up eight points in addition to six boards and four steals.

Landrum smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Landrum now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Union County, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Landrum wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 63-52 defeat against Blue Ridge on the 9th. As for Union County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-37 loss against Boiling Springs on the 9th.
