Adding to the longest winning streak in 1A District 6 this week, Trenton beat Hawthorne 54-15. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Tigers.
Trenton took down the Hornets 54-15 last week, the largest margin of any game. Melvin Adams ran for 181 yards in the win.
Adams was a passing and rushing force as Andrew Thomas' team defeated Hawthorne.
Stephen Smith and Adams gave the Tigers a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Smith threw for 64 yards and 2 touchdowns, while Adams ran for 181 yards. Kenny Deen also contributed to the rushing game with 161 yards on the ground.
6-foot-2 quarterback Bryce Jenkins of Hilliard is the league leader in passing yards this season with 576. He has also thrown 4 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Hamp Cheevers. The Trenton star has 12 catches for 240 yards.
Bronson's Brock Brower needs only 71 yards against Ellis Walker's team next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 112 carries Brower has accumulated 929 yard this year.
One of the league's premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when the Red Flashes and Bell face off next week.
As it stands, the Bulldogs are in third, while Hilliard is in second.
