Make it six blowout wins for the Trinity Bulldogs this season. Everything went their way against Wheatmore on Tuesday as Trinity made off with a 75-52 victory. With Trinity ahead 35-12 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Dominic Payne continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 31 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. Payne is crushing the point category: he's posted at least 19 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Hodges, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Colin Dobb, who scored eight points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Stepp, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.
Trinity has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. As for Wheatmore, they are on a 19-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-19.
Trinity will head out on the road to square off against the Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Uwharrie Charter will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 449th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 215th). As for Wheatmore, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Hopefully Eastern Randolph focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Tuesday.
