South View is 9-1 against Hoke County since November of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The South View Tigers will look to defend their home court against the Hoke County Bucks at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully South View focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 29 on Wednesday.
South View struggled with offensive rebounds on Wednesday (New Hanover had 800% more) and sadly the final score reflected it. South View took a 44-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of New Hanover. While losing is never fun, South View can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 228th, while New Hanover is ranked 34th).
Despite their defeat, South View saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jayla Blue, who scored 4 points along with 19 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordynn Parnell, who dropped a double-double on 10 points and 16 rebounds.
Hoke County can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They snuck past Red Springs with a 56-50 victory. The win was just what Hoke County needed coming off of a 75-44 loss in their prior contest.
Shelby Burris was on fire: she almost dropped a triple-double on 19 points, 19 rebounds, and 9 steals. Another player making a difference was Karmen Campbell, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Their wins bumped South View to 1-2 and New Hanover to 2-0.
Keep an eye on the arc in Tuesday's match: South View have been dynamite from deep this season, having only made 30.7% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Hoke County, though, as they've only made 26.8% of theirs this season. Given South View's sizeable advantage in that area, Hoke County will need to find a way to close that gap. Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other basketball content.
Everything came up roses for South View against Hoke County in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 as the squad secured a 68-30 victory. Does South View have another victory up their sleeve, or will Hoke County turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
