Torrington hasn't had much luck against Seymour recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Raiders will challenge the Wildcats at 3:15 p.m. Torrington is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.
St. Paul Catholic hit Torrington with a five-run seventh inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Raiders lost 10-4 to the Falcons.

Sophia Pergola spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and four unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Lilah Boulli was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Seymour, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Naugatuck 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wildcats have posted against the Greyhounds since May 14, 2018.
Seymour also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Skylar Barton gave up only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Julianna Raucci, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.
Seymour's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Torrington, their loss dropped their record down to 8-11.
Torrington suffered a grim 14-1 defeat to Seymour in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
