Buckeye had lost six straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 4-16 to make it seven. They lost 17-6 to the Canyon View Jaguars. If the Hawks were looking for revenge after losing 13-2 to the Jaguars when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Maddox Villegas made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of David Castaneda, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
As for Canyon View, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games.
On Canyon View's side, Carter Radwanski was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. What's more, Radwanski posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Ethan Santoyo and Rolando Valles did most of the damage at the plate: Santoyo went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Valles went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Those four hits gave Valles a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ricardo Yuriar, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double.
Looking ahead, Canyon View will head out to take on Liberty at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The last six games the Lions have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. Buckeye will be paying especially close attention to Canyon View's game: after Canyon View faces off against Liberty, they'll take on Buckeye again at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
