The University School Preppers will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Hiland Hawks at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday. University School knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven games -- so hopefully Hiland likes a good challenge.
University School fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Riverside on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 87-86 to the Beavers. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as University School came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 190th, while Riverside is ranked 482nd).
Meanwhile, Hiland narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Sandy Valley 44-41. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Hiland.
University School's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-3. As for Hiland, their victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1.
University School came up short against Hiland in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, falling 60-50. Can University School avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
