Mandy Cardinal continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 8 of 12 on her way to 21 points. She has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Charlee Hill, who posted three points.
Meanwhile, Crestview entered their tilt with Champion on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They breezed by the Golden Flashes to the tune of 60-18. Given the Rebels' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 124th, while the Golden Flashes are ranked 646th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Garfield better focus on containing Luvrain Gaskins and Addison Rhodes as the pair were huge in Crestview's win. Gaskins dropped a double-double on 22 points and 13 rebounds, while Rhodes had 17 points in addition to five assists and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Bri DiCross, who put up four points along with six assists, six boards, and five steals.
Crestview smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive games.
Crestview's win was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-3. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 44 points. As for Garfield, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Garfield has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 30.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Crestview struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Garfield took a serious blow against Crestview in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 76-17. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Garfield was down 48-10.
