After flying high against the Geibel Catholic Gators on Thursday, the Clairton Bears came back down to earth. Clairton received a tough blow on Friday as they fell 55-39 to Elizabeth Forward. While losing is never fun, Clairton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 355th, while Elizabeth Forward is ranked 141st).
Clairton lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Bryant Blair, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and five blocks. Those five blocks set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was DaShawn Hines, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Clairton now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Elizabeth Forward, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 6-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clairton and Serra Catholic will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Serra Catholic has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 197 points over their last three games. As for Elizabeth Forward, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Laurel Highlands at 7:30 p.m. Laurel Highlands is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
