Adams Central is 1-0 against Fairbury since October of 2022, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Adams Central Patriots will head out on the road to face off against the Fairbury Jeffs at 7:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
After a string of seven wins, Adams Central's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of McCook by a score of 17-14.
Nick Conant put forth a good effort for the losing side as he gained 72 total yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Fairbury, who are still winless after their eighth game. They took a serious blow against Aurora on Friday, falling 42-6. While losing is never fun, Fairbury can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska football rankings (they are ranked 123rd, while Aurora is ranked 25th).
Having lost for the first time this season, Adams Central fell to 7-1. As for Fairbury, their defeat was their seventh straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-8.
Everything came up roses for Adams Central against Fairbury in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 60-20 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Adams Central since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
