After flying high against TERRA Environmental last Wednesday, the Braddock Bulldogs came back down to earth. Braddock fell 40-31 to Ferguson on Friday. Braddock has not had much luck with Ferguson recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the loss, Braddock still got an impressive performance from Elsa Stier, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 17 rebounds. Stier is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Yvonne Jebian was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Ferguson found their leader in underclassman Ivette Fernandez, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that Fernandez pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Cecilia Rodriguez, who scored eight points along with 14 rebounds.
Braddock's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-6. As for Ferguson, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-4.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Coral Gables the next time they take the court. Braddock will host Coral Gables at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while Ferguson will head out to face them at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
