Volleyball Recap: Marcus Comes Up Short

Marcus lost against McKinney North back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Marauders lost 3-0 to the Bulldogs. The Marauders' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-11, 25-12.

Marcus' offense was headlined by Ellie Frohbieter and Ashtyn Good, who picked up four kills apiece. They got some help from Annie Easton and her seven assists. Daiva Tennison controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

McKinney North's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brynli Burgess led the charge by getting 12 digs and two aces. Another player making a difference was Malia McNeal, who had 18 assists and eight digs.

Marcus' loss dropped their record down to 10-12. As for McKinney North, they pushed their record up to 19-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marcus will square off against Memorial at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more sets each contest than the last. After both having extra time off, McKinney North and Greenville will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The match will give the Bulldogs their first taste of in-conference action this season.
