Basketball Recap: Johns Creek Skates Past Centennial with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Johns Creek). They blew past the Centennial Knights, posting a 56-12 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Gladiators as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.

Leading Johns Creek to victory were Grace Landeck and Savannah Jenkins. Landeck went 7 for 16 on her way to 22 points in addition to seven steals and five boards, while Jenkins dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 boards. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Landeck has scored at least a third of Johns Creek's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Meredith Evans, who posted five points and six rebounds.

Johns Creek smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Despite the loss, Centennial still got an impressive performance from Desiree Stamps, who had eight points. Those eight points gave Stamps a new career-high.

Johns Creek's win ended an eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-7. As for Centennial, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 0-8.

Johns Creek wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 42-38 defeat against Roswell on the 13th. As for Centennial, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 48-24 victory against Alpharetta on the 14th.
