Basketball Game Preview: Grayville Bison vs. Wayne City Indians

Grayville hasn't had much luck against Wayne City recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Grayville Bison will head out to face off against the Wayne City Indians at 8:30 p.m. Grayville knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Wayne City likes a good challenge.

Grayville's tournament run continued when they took on Thompsonville on Monday. Grayville walked away with a 75-66 win over Thompsonville.

Grayville relied on the efforts of Jake Hosman, who posted 26 points and eight rebounds, and Zach Leavens, who had 24 points. Hosman's evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ian Kleinschmidt, who posted eight points in addition to six rebounds and four steals.

Meanwhile, Wayne City fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Sandoval on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Blackhawks by a score of 71-69. The Indians were up 51-37 in the third quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Grayville is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.4 points per game. As for Wayne City, they now have a losing record at 4-5.

Grayville strolled past Wayne City in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 by a score of 61-45. The rematch might be a little tougher for Grayville since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
