The Heritage Christian Patriots will look to defend their home court on Saturday against the Messmer Bishops at 1:00 p.m. Heritage Christian has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,290 points over their last 16 contests.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Heritage Christian ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They pulled ahead with a 63-62 photo finish over Kingdom Prep Lutheran. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Heritage Christian has scored all season.
Desmond Jones continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 29 points and 17 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Scott Miller, who scored six points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Messmer's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight defeat. They lost to Living Word Lutheran on the road by a decisive 100-85 margin. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Heritage Christian is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for Messmer, they dropped their record down to 2-13 with that loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Everything came up roses for Heritage Christian against the Bishops in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 as the team secured a 83-55 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Messmer's Cartier Parr, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Now that he won't be playing on Saturday, will it be that much easier for Heritage Christian to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
