Phillipsburg extended the longest winning streak in Mid-Continent this week by beating Smith Center, 28-6. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Panthers.
Phillipsburg was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating the Redmen 28-6. Jb Covington's team came in at 21 in the state poll after placing at number 26 last week.
Ellis's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Blake Hudson threw for 35 and one touchdown and Jared Mick had 34 yards receiving. On the ground Hudson chipped in 142 yards. Cole Pfeifer helped Ellis' passing attack out by catching one ball for five yards.
The Panthers' Sean Newlan and Seth Derr have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Newlan has thrown for 256 yards this season, while Derr, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has six catches for 276 yards. Hudson from the Railroaders leads the league in rushing with 421 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Ellis takes on Norton. At the moment, Butch Hayes's team is in fourth, while the Bluejays are in second.
The Railroaders took down Larned/Pawnee Heights 36-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Hudson in the win.
