1A Tri-Peaks recap September 17, 2013
Colorado Springs Christian was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from eighth to fourth in 1A Tri-Peaks. The Lions beat Ellicott 21-12 earlier in the week.
Salida fell to Rye 43-3 last week, the largest margin of any game. Jesse Sleator was a bright spot for the Spartans, as he ran for 56 yards in the defeat.
Tristen Hamler and Sean Daniels gave the Thunderbolts a balanced attack in passing and rushing last week. Hamler threw for 91 yards and 3 touchdowns, while Daniels ran for 147 yards. Teammate Trey Zupancic added to the ground attack by rushing for 64 yards.

Tyler Lashley provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Peyton defeated John Mall. He completed 6 passes for 76 yards and also ran for 114 yards. Lashley's favorite target this week was Evan Finley, who caught 3 passes for 58 yards.

Hamler put up the best numbers through the air as Jeff Bailey's team topped Salida. Hamler's favorite target this week was Zac Reidhead, who caught 2 passes for 39 yards.
He was 4-5 with 1 interceptions.
Zakk James was the best receiver in the league this week as Buena Vista beat Custer County. James racked up 3 receptions for 145 yards.
The Demons' Keegan Wentz and James have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 1A Tri-Peaks in both passing and receiving yards. 6-0 quarterback Wentz has thrown for 354 yards this season, while James has 9 catches for 210 yards. Daniels from the Thunderbolts leads the league in rushing with 454 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Rye takes on Colorado Springs Christian. The Thunderbolts are currently in second, while Jay Kersey's team is in fourth.
Rye led the league in scoring this week after putting up 43 points on Eric Handke's team. Hamler in the win.
