Softball Recap: Willows Takes a Loss

Willows suffered their biggest defeat since April 27, 2024 on Tuesday. They lost 11-2 to the Durham Trojans. The Honkers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Kimberly Garrison was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up seven earned (and four unearned) runs off nine hits (and not a single walk). What's more, she gave up only zero walks, the fewest she's had since back in May of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played.

Garrison wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Bailey Morris, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Emma Cobb also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Willows now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Durham, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-5-1.

Durham wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 12-3 win against Winters on the 9th. Hopefully Willows payed attention to the Trojans' contest: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Trojans at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
