Thrasher is a perfect 3-0 against Potts Camp since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. Thrasher will square off against Potts Camp at 12:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Having struggled with seven defeats in a row, Thrasher turned things around against Shannon on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 16-6 margin over the Red Raiders. The Rebels not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 3rd.
Thrasher got a massive performance out of Brookelyn Roberts, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Olivia Robinson also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
Roberts wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Thrasher lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since the start of last season.
Meanwhile, Potts Camp came tearing into Friday's game with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Mustangs as they made off with a 9-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Cardinals, who have now won seven contests by eight runs or more so far this season.
Alyssa Clifton made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and four RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zoey Clark, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February of 2024. Charlie Holmes was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.
Thrasher's record now sits at 3-8. As for Potts Camp, their record now sits at 8-1.
Saturday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Thrasher hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .333. However, it's not like Potts Camp struggles in that department as they've averaged .398. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Thrasher's way against Potts Camp in their previous meeting back in March of 2020, as Thrasher made off with a 20-5 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Thrasher since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
