Sacred Heart Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brooke Personius, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Personius has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Zablocki, who scored eight points along with 14 rebounds and two blocks.
Even though they lost, Sacred Heart Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Mary's only pulled down 15 offensive rebounds.
Leading St. Mary's to victory were Jada Mushat and Emily Mcdonald. Mushat scored 23 points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Mcdonald dropped a double-double on 23 points and 16 rebounds. Mushat is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Kenzie Owens was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Sacred Heart Academy now has a losing record at 6-7. As for St. Mary's, their win bumped their record up to 9-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sacred Heart Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off.
