The St. Scholastica Doves typically have all the answers at home, but on Tuesday the Salmen Spartans proved too difficult a challenge. They snuck past the Doves with a 44-38 win. That's another feather in the cap for Salmen, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Leading Salmen to victory were Akayla Mcmooain and Destiny Bennett. Mcmooain scored nine points along with six rebounds and five assists, while Bennett scored 12 points. Janelle Bell was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Salmen's win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-14. As for St. Scholastica, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-6.
Salmen is on the road again on Thursday and plays the Skippers at 6:00 p.m. on February 1st. Mandeville will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak. As for St. Scholastica, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Demons at 6:00 p.m. on January 31st. Franklinton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Louisiana Rankings (they are ranked 248th, while the Doves are ranked 62nd).
