The Dwight Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Marquette Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Dwight focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Monday.
Dwight struggled with assists on Monday (Wilmington had 14 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Dwight suffered a rough 66-45 loss at the hands of Wilmington. Dwight has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Tristan Larkin, who scored four points along with five rebounds. Joe Duffy was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with two blocks.
Dwight struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They are winless (0-3) when they just don't pass the ball.
Meanwhile, Marquette came tearing into Tuesday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 75-66 win over Serena. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Dwight has not been sharp recently as the team's lost 12 of their last 13 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-19 record this season. As for Marquette, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-7.
Dwight suffered a grim 65-45 defeat to Marquette in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Dwight avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
