After flying high against the Seven Rivers Christian Warriors on Tuesday, the Umatilla Bulldogs came back down to earth. Umatilla took a 70-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Altamonte Christian on Thursday. Umatilla was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Altamonte Christian apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
Despite the loss, Umatilla still got an impressive performance from Herly Brutus, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 15 rebounds. Brutus is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jalen Pressley, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 10 rebounds.
It was another big night for Ashton Billings, who scored 23 points along with 8 rebounds and 6 assists for Altamonte Christian. That makes it two consecutive games in which Billings has scored at least 25% of Altamonte Christian's points. Samuel Santana was another key contributor, scoring 10 points along with 6 rebounds.
Umatilla's loss dropped their record down to 2-1. As for Altamonte Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.
Umatilla will be playing in front of their home fans against Belleview at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Altamonte Christian won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Hope Academy at 7:00 p.m. on December 8th. One thing working in Hope Academy's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
